Welcome to The Browser

Thank you for signing up to the world’s favourite curation newsletter!

A little bit about the people behind The Browser:

Caroline, our editor-in-chief, lives in the north of England with her husband Guy and their beloved clumber spaniel, Morris. Aside from editing The Browser, she’s also the creator and host of the golden age detective podcast Shedunnit.

Kaamya lives in South India with her husband Arvind. She’s a lapsed academic who now fills her days with reading and editing The Browser, mead-brewing, metalworking and other experiments in their shared workshop.

Our tiny team is rounded out by our publishers Uri and Sylvia, who will always be happy to answer your emails. Uri’s second life is as a board game designer, and Sylvia’s is as a beloved children’s author. If you'd like to say hello, you can always send us a note at editor@thebrowser.com.

In a time of mass algorithms and cynical engagement farming, we’re trying to offer a curated reading experience that is closer to the classic magazine, or recommendations from a friend: every piece in The Browser is there because a real human read it and found it thought-provoking.

Our motto is writing of lasting value — in a world awash with “breaking news” that will line tomorrow’s wastepaper baskets, we only recommend pieces that will be just as interesting ten years from now as they are today.

This work is time-consuming and expensive to produce, and is only made possible by our paid subscribers. We’re thrilled that you signed up to be a member; if you can, please consider supporting The Browser with a paid subscription. Not only will you be helping us continue this work, you’ll get:

  • Five article recommendations daily (the free edition has two)
  • A podcast and video recommendation daily
  • A Top of the Week edition on Saturdays
  • A special Sunday Supplement with a book recommendation, an image, a performance, a poem, a quiz and more
  • Access to our fully-searchable archive — where you can look through thousands of previous recommendations to track down an old favourite or find what we’ve written on every topic imaginable

Thanks again, and if you enjoy our work, you can do us no greater honour than letting a few friends know about us — it really means a lot to us!
